Food Waste Café – every bite counts!
Our society is a student led environmental and social enterprise with the idea to collect surplus ingredients to reduce food waste and enjoy the social part of eating even more. We organise cafés and food stalls where we get together with volunteers to cook meals with the saved surplus food. As the dishes and food bundles are served on a pay-as-you-feel basis we provide a sustainable, accessible and delicious option for everyone.
Last year, in spite of several restrictions the society has been able to save 1895kg of surplus food and raise £983 for worthy causes which is even more than the year before!
We are really looking forward to the next academic year and are confident it will give us new opportunities for events and cafés to save and cook food together and meet more people who are passionate about tackling food waste together.
